Before first use make sure to season. Step 1: Dry thoroughly, especially the bottom of the Donabe. Step 2: Pour water about 3/4 full into the Donabe and add rice (1:5 rice to water ratio). Step 3: Cover the Donabe with lid and cook over low-medium heat until it becomes porridge. Step 4: Turn off heat and let cool for 1 hour before disposing. Step 5: Wash Donabe with warm soapy water.
